ExpressConnect Products
The N1400-PCM PCI Express High Speed Switch Module (PCM) and the N2800-I/O Consolidation
Appliance (ICA) help comprise the NextIO's Adaptive Connect™ family.
Configurability
Administrators can dynamically and remotely map servers to any shared or non-shared
I/O based on real-time needs.
Connectivity
Server to I/O connectivity uses native PCI Express from the CPU chipset, making
the additional connectivity low cost without worries of operating system incompatibility.
Expansion
Users are presented up to 10x the amount of I/O traditionally available to 1U servers
and can make use of additional bandwidth and I/O technologies.
Capacity
Applications can make use of Terabytes of RAID storage, plus external storage capacity
using iSCSI and Fibre Channel (FC)
Virtualization
Data Center planners are presented with a stepping stone approach to Shared I/O
enablement
N1400-PCM High-Speed Switch Module
The N1400-PCM High-Speed Switch Module enables blade servers to expand PCI Express
signals outside of the chassis. It delivers a combined 35Gbps of I/O throughput
external to the chassis for connectivity to standard PCI Express devices. Traditional
blade server designs limit users to only one additional I/O technology from the
integrated ones on the motherboard. This legacy design forces users to remove power
from their blades and physically replace the I/O daughter cards to change or update
their I/O technology. Additionally, if a new I/O technology is chosen for the blade,
a fabric switch for the chassis I/O is typically purchased to extend the technology
within the data center.
With NextIO's PCI Express shared switch module solution, blades only need to extend
PCI Express from their chipset through the chassis midplane to a module bay. In a
chassis module bay, a NextIO shared I/O module provides users the ability to offer
multiple I/O technologies to one or more blade servers and to reassign or change
I/O technologies without powering down blades. All shared I/O devices are compatible
with existing operating systems and device drivers without modification. The NextIO
Shared I/O module solution limits chassis management contention by eliminating the
need for I/O fabric switches in the chassis. Additionally, the elimination of I/O
fabric switches reduces the "out-of-box" setup time to ensure the chassis fabric
is compatible with the data center fabric.
2800-ICA I/O Consolidation Appliance
The N2800-ICA enables flexible configuration of standard PCI Express devices for
I/O expansion, partitioning, and virtualization. It offers up to 14 full-length,
full-power PCI Express devices to be connected to and partitioned among multiple
blade or rack servers.
The NextIO N2800-ICA utilizes PCI Express switching technology for I/O expansion,
partitioning and virtualization. Powered by NextIO's PCI Express shared I/O technology,
this product enables the flexibility to connect to higher cost fabrics at a fraction
of the cost. Administrators can dynamically and remotely map servers to any shared,
or non-shared I/O based on real-time needs. Server and I/O connect via native PCI
Express connectivity from the CPU chipset, making the additional connectivity low
cost without worries of Operating System incompatibility. Users are presented up
to 10x the amount of I/O traditionally available to 1U servers and can make use
of additional bandwidth and I/O technologies.
