nControl Management Software
Adaptive Connect Platform: Any to Any I/O Connectivity |
nControl Management SoftwareThe nControl management software provides a web GUI, and Command Line Interface as well as SNMP support to configure and monitor the NextIO Adaptive Connect™ family of products. To simplify switch administration, nControl includes a configuration Wizard to streamline deployment and interface with 3rd party management tools. Using the route management capability of nControl, Administrators can easily re-assign non-shared I/O devices or shared I/O resources to different servers. Using the bandwidth monitoring capabilities, additional I/O devices may be brought online remotely and assigned to the needed root complex. nControl software provides out-of-band communication to shared endpoint devices independent of server power status. This allows administrators or management policies to initialize and configure I/O devices prior to server power. This capability provides administrators the flexibility to coordinate fabric management one time and not each time a new server and I/O device comes online. To help safeguard critical information and manage switch resources, administrators may control data access to Users through nControl's Access Control Lists. System MonitorAdministrators can monitor system activity and create alert levels to prompt appropriate action. There are seven alert levels from which actions can be taken: INFO, NOTICE, WARNING, ERROR, CRITICAL, ALERT, EMERENCY. Customized logs can be created and exported remotely. (See Figure 1). Switch Module SecurityTo help safeguard critical information and manage system resources, administrators may control data access to Users and Access Control Lists that require local authentication System RecoveryUpon deployment (and periodically, thereafter) the nControl software can export images of the configurations, journals and logs of the managed product and store the information to remote locations. These exported files can be used to quickly restore a switch's configuration or used in a rapid deployment model for new switches brought online. Lights-Out ManagementSome diagnostic and status information is available to the BladeCenter H Advanced Management Module using the Standby power. The administrator may also access vital product data from the EEPROM in this state. |
